Damn I really miss painting.

Vector Art In Illustrator

I remember back in the days, when I first got the adobe programs, I played with Illustrator for a few hours, then I tried Photoshop, and I never touched Illustrator again—not for picture making at least. Now I’m taking a design class that requires me to use Illustrator. This is my first time carrying out a piece of work this far in Illustrator, it was really tedious and dare I say.. a bit boring, but nonetheless, a great experience.

It was fun when I was learning all the new techniques in Illustrator, but soon I realized making pictures in Illustrator meant outlines, fills, strokes, gradients, clicking endless path and anchor points. Coming from a painter’s point of view, I just want to draw the damn shapes, it’s faster, straight to the point and most importantly, natural to me. There should be technicians that convert finished drawings/paintings into the vector form in Illustrator. I could probably do 4–5 paintings with the time I took to do this vector image, I know I’m new but still, the process of vector is just a much slower and so much more technical. But a lot of people like it, and I just have a hard time understanding it as a painter. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen many amazing illustrations done in illustrator and they inspire me. It’s just not my cup of tea.

I don’t know why but I just felt like writing my thoughts about this down, please bare with me or just ignore it haha, I don’t mean to offend anyone.

Old Ruins

It’s only when I’m drowning in school and work then do i realize how precious it is to have time to paint. I want to have this feeling all the time… even when I don’t have school and work.
